This is just sad

Donald Trump is never short of bizarre moments in front of the cameras, but this one left people cringing.

Gray TV’s Jon Decker asked Donald Trump if Melania believes Vladimir Putin is the aggressor in the Ukraine war. He pointed out that the First Lady had written “a very touching letter” to Putin, calling for peace because of the children.

Trump’s reply went sideways. “So the First Lady felt very strongly. She’s watched the same thing that you watch and that I watch. I see things that you don’t get to see, and it’s horrible. But she’s got a great love of children, she has a wonderful son that she loves probably more than anybody, including me. I hate to say it, but she loves her son.”

The words “her son” instantly drew attention. Trump was talking about Barron, but his phrasing made it sound like the boy belongs only to Melania.

He added, “She loves children. And she hates to see something like this happening. You got that?” Then he claimed Putin welcomed the letter and stressed again that Melania wants the war to end.

By that point, the focus had already shifted. Commentators zeroed in on how Trump spoke about his son. Many said it showed distance. Some suggested it revealed more about him than he intended.

The press moment came just hours after Trump’s latest post on Truth Social where he said President Volodymyr Zelensky could stop the war right away. “President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight. Remember how it started. No getting back Obama given Crimea (12 years ago, without a shot being fired!), and NO GOING INTO NATO BY UKRAINE. Some things never change!!!”

That message was already stirring outrage. Critics said it echoed Putin’s talking points.
