President Donald Trump gave reporters a head-scratching update on his health Friday night, praising a recent MRI while admitting he didn’t really know what was being checked.
“I had an MRI,” Trump said during a briefing on Air Force One. “The doctor said it was the best result he has ever seen as a doctor…The result was outstanding.”
When pressed on whether the scan examined his brain, the president offered an equally confusing explanation. “I have no idea what they analyzed, but whatever they analyzed, they analyzed it well, and they said I had as good a result as they’ve ever seen.”
Unsurprisingly, Trump’s comments sparked a mix of skepticism and mockery online.

“We live in Idiocracy,” progressive journalist Mehdi Hasan wrote on X, referencing the 2006 satirical comedy about a dystopian future. Hasan added in a separate post that the remarks should prompt cabinet members to consider invoking the 25th Amendment.

Trump’s health has been closely watched in Washington, especially given his age and the occasional bruising seen on his hands. The White House has provided few details about the October MRI, which was described by the president’s physician as a “scheduled follow-up” including “advanced imaging.”
Jeffrey Kuhlman, who served as White House physician under former President Barack Obama, questioned the long hours reportedly spent at Walter Reed Medical Center.
“It’s about an eight-minute helicopter ride from the South Lawn to Walter Reed. So we know that he at least had four hours available to undergo medical care,” Kuhlman told The Hill. “There’s a disconnect there.”
At 79, Trump is the oldest president in U.S. history. Questions about his age and fitness for office have come up often, though public scrutiny has been less intense than that faced by President Joe Biden.
