Only Trump could make a stupid comment worse.

Donald Trump delivered a rambling speech on Wednesday to announce an update on his big beautiful wall. According to the “president,” he was just joking, though, when he told a crowd at the Shale Insight conference in Pittsburgh that his administration is in the process of building a wall along the southern border of Colorado, a state that is 1,360.5 miles from Mexico.

“You know why we’re going to win New Mexico? Because they want safety on their border,” Trump said during his speech. “And they didn’t have it. And we’re building a wall on the border of New Mexico. And we’re building a wall in Colorado. We’re building a beautiful wall, a big one that really works—you can’t get over it, you can’t get under. And we’re building a wall in Texas. And we’re not building a wall in Kansas, but they get the benefits of the walls that we just mentioned. And Louisiana’s incredible.”

According to Trump’s tweet that he posted after midnight, he was just joking, and we all know what a jokey jokester the “president” is.

Twitter users weren’t buying it.

What’s probably even more stunningly stupid is that audience members jumped to their feet to give applause to their “president” after he announced he was building a wall in Colorado.

Trump misspelled “referred” in his after-midnight tweet and seems to think that the audience in Pittsburgh was filled with residents from Colorado and Kansas. We suppose Trump was just kidding when he said Mexico will pay for the wall. What a funny guy that Trump is.
