On Tuesday, President Donald Trump changed the White House’s LinkedIn page picture to a big photo of his own face. The swap replaced the traditional White House seal.
This small change had a big effect. Anyone who listed “The White House” as their workplace now saw Trump’s face displayed next to their job history. That included Barack Obama, Joe Biden’s former staffers, and even Democratic aides who once worked under Bill Clinton.
Barack Obama’s LinkedIn page was one of the first spotted with the change. Instead of the White House logo next to his title “President of the United States,” there was now Trump’s smiling portrait.
LinkedIn works in a simple way. When you tag a company or organization, the site automatically pulls the image from that group’s official page. So once Trump’s White House team changed the photo, every profile linked to the White House changed with it.

Jeremy Edwards, who worked as a spokesman for Biden, noticed Trump’s face on his own profile. He posted about it online. Steven Cheung, Trump’s White House communications director, mocked him. Cheung confirmed the change was done on purpose to troll Democrats.
MAGA supporters cheered. They flooded social media with jokes and memes.
🚨 LMAO! This is Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ campaign manager on LinkedIn…
…Whoever at the White House made the decision to change the profile pic to Donald Trump needs an IMMEDIATE raise 😂 pic.twitter.com/PINRa57BMc

LOL that’s actually hilarious. Whoever pulled that off deserves the raise. On the markets, I’m with Ethan – the chaos is wild but they’re still holding up.

It is not clear if LinkedIn will step in to fix it. Right now, the only way for former staffers to remove Trump’s picture is to edit their job history and take out “The White House.” But for many, that would mean erasing a major part of their career.
This is not the first time Trump’s team has pulled a digital prank. In August, reports showed they had updated Trump’s official White House portrait because the president thought the first one looked “too harsh and intimidating.” His team made changes to soften his features.
More recently, the Trump White House launched a TikTok channel. But the attempt flopped after the account was mocked heavily online. Trump’s top meme creator even quit during the rollout.
