Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, who has served as Donald Trump’s personal lapdog, called the former president “unpopular” while discussing Republican Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin’s win in Virginia over Terry McAuliffe. A lot played into Youngkin’s victory, even though Trump has been trying to take credit for it. Youngkin played on feigned outrage about Critical Race Theory; however, it’s only taught in law schools. But Republicans have a penchant for lying.
Trump did endorse Youngkin; however, the Virginia governor-elect distanced himself from the twice-impeached one-term president throughout his campaign in the state. And that should send a message to the GOP, a party that’s been hijacked by the former president. They can drop him like a hot potato.
Graham praised Trump, saying he “played it pretty well,” then called the former president “unpopular.
“Trump played it pretty well, not to give any more air to the Trump card,” the South Carolina Republican told Politico. “Being associated with an unpopular politician [like Trump] is an oft-used strategy. However, if that’s all you got, you’re not going very far.”

Biden easily beat Trump in Virginia last November, but McAuliffe, in my opinion, just wasn’t a strong candidate. In contrast, Youngkin got Virginians more excited about voting, mostly by stirring up fake outrage. McAuliffe played it as if he was running against the former president instead of against Youngkin. And some people want to move on from Trump. After all, he lost the race to Joe Biden over one year ago in both the electoral and popular vote. McAuliffe, unfortunately, just didn’t draw the enthusiasm that Youngkin did.
We’re sure Trump won’t handle Graham calling him “unpopular” very well. Trump still can’t admit that he lost the race to President Biden. The former president continues to spin his big lie of voter fraud that doesn’t exist. That lie led to the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection, and he’s never going to stop. His narcissistic brain won’t allow him to admit defeat. Trump has thoroughly embarrassed this country, but he still has a dedicated base, and I have no idea why.
