Donald Trump has a really nasty habit of… Just… Well… Straight up lying through his teeth when it comes to his approval numbers. The dude is pretty widely hated by Americans and people around the world alike. However, he never fails to attempt to either paint those polls in his favor somehow, outright lie about what the polls reflect, or paint the pollsters as a bunch of big, fat meanies who are just trying to hurt him as the “fake news” media does.
But at this point, Trump’s approval ratings have sunk so low that even his favorite, most “trustworthy” pollster can’t save him now.
Rasmussen Reports’ Daily Presidential Tracking Poll, a Republican-leaning pollster that Trump has praised in the past, is now showing Donald’s approval rating at a dismal 42 percent while his disapproval rating has skyrocketed to 57 percent over the course of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 15-point margin is the worst Trump has received from Rasmussen since late 2017.

To make matters all the worse for the president, the poll was sponsored by pro-Trump activist Jack Posobiec from the right-wing One American News Network.
Trump has long been fond of Rasmussen, praising the company as “one of the most accurate in predicting the 2016 Election” and commending them for their “honest polling” and as recently as this February, Trump tweeted that he has reached “52 percent in the new Rasmussen Poll.”
The polling company itself has always distinctly leaned to the right, with polling analyst Nate Silver noting that “the Republican lean in its polls ran pretty much wire to wire.”
“It had a significant Republican house effect early in the election cycle and a significant Republican house effect late in the election, and it would up turning into a significant Republican bias on Election Day,” Silver wrote.
Trump has clearly botched his response to this pandemic in every conceivable way and continues to only make matters worse with each passing day. It’s really no surprise that his numbers are sinking, even with his most dependable pollsters, in a way he’s never seen before.
However, I’m sure Donald will see be taking to his Twitter account soon to trash the company as fake and unreliable, simply because even they can’t hide the truth for him anymore.
