Things are getting a bit nasty between scandal-plagued ex-President Trump and his former ally turned staunch critic and 2024 Republican presidential opponent, Chris Christie.

Just earlier this week, the former New Jersey governor offered up his thoughts on Donald’s likely mental state as the walls close in around him from every direction, with Christie saying, “No matter what he says no matter how he’s bragging and going on and on, about him not being afraid, he goes to bed every night, thinking about the sound of that jail cell door closing behind them.”

As if that wasn’t enough to piss Trump off pretty thoroughly, Christie has now all but dared the big guy into the “ring” for a physical one-on-one, where Donald’s former friend says he would “kick his ass.”

The hilarious assessment came during Christie’s recent interview with the insufferable Piers Morgan, where the interview host posed this rather bizarre question to the 2024 Republican presidential candidate: “Talking of fighting, if you and Trump got in the ring — he loves his UFC and stuff like that, right — if you got in the octagon, you and him, who would win?”

“Come on,” Christie scoffed in response. “Guy is 78 years old. I’d kick his ass,” prompting some pretty clear amusement from Morgan.

Morgan went on to further prod whether or not Christie would be “prepared to be the undercard, you against Trump?”

The former NJ governor said he would happily “fight Donald Trump anywhere he wants in any arena he wants. Whether it’s on a debate stage, or in the octagon.”

This is, of course, just the most recent gauntlet to drop in the Christie vs. Trump feud, with Donald regularly trying to hit out at Christie’s weight.

In a Truth Social post directly following Christie’s presidential candidacy announcement, Trump wrote, “How many times did Chris Christie use the word SMALL? Does he have a psychological problem with SIZE? Actually, his speech was SMALL, and not very good.”

Trump also posted an infamous edited image video of Christie at the launch event, speaking at the buffet.

But in response, Christie says his opponent just needs to “look in the mirror.”

Speaking with Stephen A. Smith earlier this week, the GOP candidate said, “As you know, there are tens of millions of Americans out there who struggle each and every day with their weight. And I’m one of them. And I’ve been on all kinds of diets. I’ve had surgery and I’ve done much better than I did when I was governor. I lost a lot of weight when I was governor and I’ve kept most of that weight off, but I still have a lot more to go. I just look at him and think what a child, how small he to be doing things like that.”
