King Charles and his wife, Camilla, are visiting the United States, and they met with the president and First Lady on Tuesday.

According to CBS News, the royal couple “were greeted at the White House with a formal state arrival ceremony welcoming them to the capital, complete with a military flyover and cannon salute. Mr. Trump cast the visit in both personal and historical terms, noting his mother’s Scottish ancestry and the long relationship between the U.S. and U.K.”

After the meeting, the king was heading to the Capitol to address a joint session of Congress. He will become just the second British monarch to address a joint session of Congress, and the first since his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 1991.

“He’s going to be addressing Congress, and I’m going to be watching,” the president said, per CBS. “I was thinking of going, but they said, ‘I don’t know. That might be a step too far.’ I would love to go. It’s not supposed to be protocol, but I would love to be with you.”

During his speech, the president stated that his late mother, Mary, once had a crush on the young Charles. He did, however, not mention his longtime, oft-stated crush on Charles’ late former wife, Princess Diana.

Also, a picture was taken after the meeting of the president placing his hand on the First Lady’s posterior.

Quite a few people on social media had things to say about that picture.
