All about attention

Over the years, Donald Trump’s look has been as memorable as his politics.

On December 3, he took it to a new level. While announcing a rollback of Joe Biden’s electric vehicle policies, Trump appeared with bright orange skin and thin platinum blonde hair. The combination made him look almost radioactive. Some people online could not stop talking about it.

Trump does his own hair and makeup. Former assistant Alyssa Farah Griffin said on the One Decision podcast that nobody touches his face or hair. She explained, “I never touch you don’t touch the Donald Trump face.”

Makeup artist Kriss Blevens confirmed the same. She said, “Donald Trump does his own hair and makeup. He usually comes ready. He is expressing himself in his own style, and I would never want to interfere with that. He has his signature look, and that is far better than changing it up all the time.”

So why the orange skin?

Some suggest it comes from rosacea. Others blame the sun for his frequent golfing trips at Mar-a-Lago. Makeup artist John Kelly explained in 2017 that all that sun could add to the bronzed glow. No matter the reason, the color has become part of his signature look.

Then there is the hair. Trump’s thin platinum blonde strands are no accident. Years of bleaching and quick styling have left his hair uneven and sometimes patchy. Sources say he never sits long enough for proper coloring. This leaves the hair looking lighter or orange in some areas.

Some believe it is strategic. Biographer Michael Wolff wrote in Fire and Fury that the hair helps Trump stand out next to Joe Biden who often looks gray. Wolff explained that Trump exaggerates his look because he thinks it works. The unusual style is meant to draw attention and make him noticeable in every photo or event.

The December 3 appearance showed how far he will go. His thin blonde wisps and glowing orange skin created a look that was almost cartoonish but he carried it with confidence.
