One Texas middle school teacher was canned from his job, effective immediately, after a video clip went viral across social media that shows the educator telling a group of students, including several students of color, that he fully believes that his race (of course, he is very white) is “the superior one,” according to reporting from NBC News.
The teacher, who appears to remain unnamed at this time, can be seen on the video recording telling a group of his students at Bohls Middle School in Pflugerville, TX, “Deep down in my heart, I’m ethnocentric, which means I think my race is the superior one.”
The group of students that the teacher was addressing was seemingly very diverse, with several Black and POC students in the classroom as he ranted.
“I think everybody thinks that,” the teacher goes on to add, seemingly attempting to excuse his thoughts and rhetoric. “They’re just not honest about it.”

At one point, a Black student interjected and asked, “Wait, so you said you are what? You are a racist?”
The teacher responds, “I think everybody is a racist at that level.”
The same Black student fires back, “No. But you said you are a racist.”
“I did. I did,” the Bohls Middle School teacher confirmed.
Douglas Killian, the superintendent of the Pflugerville Independent School District, released a statement on the matter following the now-viral video, in which he said that the teacher’s comments were “inappropriate, inaccurate, and unacceptable” and “this type of interaction will not be tolerated in any” of the schools in the district.
“As of Monday morning, Nov. 14, the teacher in question is no longer employed by Pflugerville ISD and we are actively looking for a replacement,” the statement reads, confirming that the teacher in question was effectively terminated from his position within the middle school.
Reports indicate that the teacher in question has not yet been identified or publicly named.
