Thanks in part to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s convoluted, ridiculous report that alleges a “treasonous conspiracy” by Barack Obama to push the Russia scandal on the eve of Donald Trump’s first presidency, much of the MAGA base is under the false impression that the 44th president is about to be arrested. And Trump is doing all he can to encourage that impression.
Trump on Friday posted a meme to Truth Social, in the style of the 1994 O.J. Simpson Bronco chase, which placed Obama’s head in O.J.’s car, with Trump and JD Vance’s heads on the drivers of two of the police cars. A couple of notable things: The meme uses the bizarre Photoshopped version of Vance, while it has Obama driving the car with no passenger; in the real chase, Simpson’s friend Al Cowlings was driving, and Simpson was his passenger.
It follows Trump earlier posting a meme showing Obama being arrested at the White House.

Following the release of Gabbard’s report, she sent a “criminal referral” to the Justice Department, although it’s unclear what if any criminal charge could be leveled at Obama, who is presumably covered by the new “presidential immunity” put in place by last year’s Supreme Court decision.
“Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response,” Obama’s office said in a statement last week. But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one. These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.”
I wrote about @DNIGabbard‘s dangerous deception for @FoxNews. I thought it was important to take facts straight to the lion’s den, and I appreciate that they let me have my say. https://t.co/ve8hqoyhBn

In addition, longtime Obama aide Ned Price wrote an op-ed for Fox News, in an attempt to reach conservative outlets, titled “Americans should beware of Gabbard’s ‘dangerous distraction’ with revisionist history of 2016 election.”
“Hers is an effort to re-write history, overturning established facts with conspiratorial fiction, while also directing focus away from the current scandal engulfing her administration and, in particular, her boss and political benefactor, President Trump,” Price wrote in the op-ed. “It’s a history that I know well as a CIA officer who was serving in a senior role on President Obama’s National Security Council at the time.”
