We're not egg-cited to see him because he is always cracking under pressure. ;)

JD Vance found himself in an awkward situation once again during a campaign stop in Leesport, Pennsylvania. Attempting to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris on inflation, he walked into a grocery store, grabbed a carton of eggs, and claimed that due to Harris’s policies, the price of eggs had skyrocketed from $1.50 to $4 per dozen. This move was intended to underscore the impact of inflation on everyday Americans but quickly backfired, drawing ridicule and scrutiny from both the public and economic experts.

The price is clearly shown in the image – the eggs are not $4; but Vance doesn’t really care about being honest.

Underlying Reasons for Inflation: A Reality Check

sponsored by

While Vance attempted to blame Harris for inflation, the real story is far more complex. According to experts, the root causes of inflation are more connected to the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A report from the “Wizard of Wall Street” pointed out that the significant spending during the Trump years, combined with supply chain disruptions and reduced interest rates, set the stage for the inflation we see today. The expert credited the Biden administration for making efforts to curb inflation through strategic monetary policies, which have helped stabilize the economy in recent months; as we wrote here:

Elaine Garzarelli, the economist behind Garzarelli Capital, has provided a compelling analysis showing that the Trump administration’s policies were the main driver of the inflation surge seen in 2021. According to her firm, the significant rise in the money supply during Trump’s final year in office was the direct cause of inflationary pressures that followed, as demonstrated in the firm’s charts.

This analysis contradicts Vance’s simplistic blame on Harris and highlights the broader, more systemic issues at play.

Historical data from the US Fed:

Non-Partisan Predictions Favor Harris

Adding to Vance’s troubles, non-partisan analysts have suggested that Harris’s economic plan would be far more beneficial for the country compared to the chaotic approach that marked Trump’s tenure. According to a comparison from Trump’s own alma mater, the Wharton School of Business, Harris’s economic strategies, including investments in green energy and workforce development, are expected to yield long-term benefits for the U.S. economy.

As we wrote about HERE:

The PWBM report estimates that Trump’s proposed policies, which include significant tax cuts and increased defense spending, would lead to an unsustainable fiscal path. The analysis projects that these policies would initially boost economic activity, but the benefits would be short-lived. Over the next 30 years, the U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to decrease by 2.1%, reflecting the long-term damage of ballooning deficits and rising debt.

This projected decline in economic growth is particularly alarming when compared to the expected outcomes of Kamala Harris’s economic plan. Harris’s policies, which focus on investments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure, are expected to increase the federal deficit by $2.7 trillion over the next decade—less than half of Trump’s projected deficit. Importantly, her plan is anticipated to increase GDP by 1.5% in the long term, a stark contrast to the economic contraction forecasted under Trump’s policies.

Awkward Moments: A Pattern for Vance

This is not the first time JD Vance has stumbled publicly. In previous incidents, he has struggled to connect with voters in meaningful ways. For instance, during a visit to a donut shop in Georgia, he awkwardly commented, “The Zoo has come to town,” which was met with blank stares from the staff and onlookers. His attempts at conversation fell flat, and the interaction was so uncomfortable that it quickly became the subject of online ridicule.

Similarly, during another campaign stop, he tried to win over voters by handing out root beer floats, only to be met with confusion and criticism that highlighted his inability to engage authentically with the people he claims to represent.

Why Vance’s Tactics Are Backfiring

Vance’s public appearances and campaign strategies seem to be doing more harm than good for his image. While he attempts to present himself as a champion of the working class, his awkward interactions and misguided criticisms only serve to highlight a disconnect between his rhetoric and reality. Moments like the egg incident, instead of fostering a sense of relatability, end up reinforcing the perception that Vance is out of touch with the everyday struggles of Americans.

As Vance continues to stumble through his campaign, it remains to be seen whether he can pivot and find a more effective way to connect with voters. For now, however, his missteps seem to be overshadowing his message, leaving many to question his readiness for higher office.
