In a recent vice-presidential debate, JD Vance found himself in a hot seat when he was asked a simple question: “Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?” You might expect a straightforward answer, but instead, Vance danced around the question, leaving many viewers shaking their heads in disbelief and frustration.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the Democratic vice-presidential candidate, confronted Vance directly. Instead of admitting the truth, Vance quickly shifted the conversation, saying, “Tim, I’m focused on the future,” and then started talking about Kamala Harris and COVID censorship. Walz responded sharply, saying, “That is a damning non-answer.”

The next day, after the debate, CNN’s Jim Acosta, tried to get a straight answer from Corey Lewandowski, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign. He asked, “Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election?” Instead of answering, Lewandowski sidestepped the question, saying, “The American people have moved on.” This shows how Republicans still refuse to face the truth.

Vance’s refusal to say that Trump lost the election is more than just a political game. When leaders ignore the truth, it erodes trust in our democracy. In 2020, every state confirmed the election results, and countless courts dismissed claims of widespread fraud. Even the U.S. Supreme Court didn’t want to engage and declined to hear cases about the election. Today, however, we have a former president who still insists he didn’t lose.

Things took a surprising turn when The Good Liars, a political comedy duo, caught Vance off guard in a viral video. They asked him, “Who won the 2020 election? Just answer, did Donald Trump win—yes or no?” To everyone’s shock, Vance replied, “Yes.” This was a clear contradiction to his earlier evasions during the debate and showed he would say anything to fit the narrative.

This moment led to a wave of reactions on social media. One user, @ArtCandee, tweeted, “JD Vance is utterly unfit for office. He’s shameful.” Another user, @MadeInCanada_eh, said, “Vance will do and say anything to be Vice President because his ultimate goal is to be President.” These comments highlight a growing frustration with politicians who care more about their careers than the truth.

Vance’s contradictory statements raise serious concerns about his honesty. During the debate, he avoided saying Trump lost, trying to shift the focus to other topics instead. However, when pressed by The Good Liars, he quickly agreed that Trump won. This inconsistency makes people wonder what he really believes. Is he trying to please his party, or does he truly think Trump won?

When politicians care more about staying in power than being honest, it puts American democracy in danger. This is not just wrong; it is very dangerous.
