Video Emerges From Senator Fischer’s Previous Swearing-In Ceremony, Where Her Husband Shook Mike Pence’s Hand

I can’t help but wonder if Bruce Fischer, the MAGA-loving husband of GOP Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer regrets being obnoxious earlier by refusing to shake Vice President Kamala Harris’s hand as his wife was sworn in. His very obvious snub was caught on social media and one such post, by Brian Tyler Cohen, host of the No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen podcast, has been viewed more than 7.4 million times.

That’s 7.4 million people who now know who this guy is.

This includes Democratic strategist Chris D. Jackson, who unearthed a tweet from “six years ago” where we see this noodle shaking Mike Pence’s hand with absolutely no hesitation whatsoever.

“UPDATE: After some digging, I finally found the video from six years ago of Senator Fischer being sworn in by Mike Pence, with her husband by her side. To my expectations, after the oath, her husband gleefully shook Pence’s hand and thanked him for his leadership. Before they left, he shook his hand again.”

“Given his refusal to shake Vice President Harris’s hand today, I suspected him of being a bigot. Now, I’m certain.”

In case anyone initially wondered if Brian Fischer is a racist, I think Jackson’s post seals the deal. He can shake Pence’s hand but not Harris’s. Really? How disgusting. I hope both posts continue to go viral.

Of course, some of the 7.4 million who viewed the first tweet above, think Brian Fischer’s response is just peachy-keen. I don’t know what Stelter was trying to do, but he got crop-dusted by Jackson. It’s interesting that Stelter did this because he clearly leans Democrat.

“The difference this year is he’s relying on a cane,” Stelter said.

“Surely you aren’t this dull,” Jackson posted. “The guy wouldn’t even look up at her or talk.”

Then there’s this weird tweet by MAGA supporter @TheAFShirt, who nonsensically took aim at President Joe Biden. Because go figure.

“A lot can happen in 6 years…time takes it’s toll on everyone…take Biden for example. In 2020 he apparently was in better shape than an Olympic athlete. In just 4 short years he can’t seem to climb the taller stairs…it’s either that or Biden is racial against tall stairs…”

Fortunately, tweets lauding Brian Fischer were in noticeably short supply, but there were many by social media users who had a few things to tell him.

“@POTUS @MSNBC @thereidout @RepJeffries Our wonderful @VP is too good for that level of willful deliberate spiteful ignorance. He removed his hood before he entered but kept it on in spirit. He deserves as much basic human respect as he gives,” wrote @kazzmobing, adding a blue heart emoji at the end of the tweet.

It is gross. I’m glad Brian Tyler Cohen’s clip went viral. Some people kept excusing Fischer’s behavior by saying he was using a cane and holding a Bible. There was a table right behind him where he could have placed the Bible. And I walk with a cane but have somehow managed to shake people’s hands with no problem.

I’m sorry, people like Fischer don’t get a free pass on this. He displayed completely racist behavior and I’m sure with Donald Trump in office for another four years we can expect more of this awful behavior.
