President Donald Trump showed up at the U.S. Open men’s final on Sunday, and things quickly turned sour.

The match was delayed for 45 minutes because of extra security checks tied to Trump’s attendance. Fans outside the stadium grew frustrated, and tennis legend Martina Navratilova even shared a picture of the chaos on social media, calling it a “mess.”

Because of the delay, Trump’s first appearance inside Arthur Ashe Stadium was awkward. When he was shown on the big screen, he was waving to a half-empty arena.

ABC News reporter Olivia Rubin noted that a huge crowd was still stuck outside waiting to get through security.

Eventually, fans filled in, and Trump was shown again during the national anthem. At first there were cheers, but those cheers quickly gave way to boos. The mixed reaction was loud, and it set the tone for the rest of the night.

The men’s final ended with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz taking the trophy. Cameras caught Trump’s face as the match wrapped up, and many viewers thought he looked upset about the results.
