Just hours before U.S. jets struck Iran, Trump surprised guests at his Florida country club, making a brief appearance at Mar-a-Lago’s Place of Hope 2026 LEXUS Hope Bash Gala, where he thanked attendees and danced briefly as “God Bless the USA” played. “Good song, huh? Have a good time, everybody… I gotta go to work,” he said before leaving to oversee the military operation.

The moment didn’t sit well with everyone online.

Trump also spoke briefly with journalist James O’Keefe, who shared that Trump was supportive of ongoing domestic investigations. “I briefed him on our upcoming investigations domestically that I believe will lead to arrests and he was very supportive,” O’Keefe wrote.

Hours later, U.S. jets struck targets in Iran. The president announced the operation on social media, still wearing the same suit and white USA hat from the gala.

Earlier in the day, Trump had visited Corpus Christi, Texas, promoting the economy with lawmakers. While he was in Texas, Secretary Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Gen. Dan Caine flew to Mar-a-Lago to set up the military operation.

Vice President JD Vance monitored the strikes from the White House Situation Room, joined by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Energy Secretary Chris Wright. For security, Trump and Vance rarely meet in person when the president is away from the White House.

Trump also made a quick stop at a local Whataburger in Texas Friday evening. He shook hands with patrons, declared “Hamburgers for everybody!”, and grabbed a to-go order for the flight to Florida.
