From the bruises on his hands to his swollen ankles to his strange, uneven walk, a lot of attention has been placed on Doanl Trump’s health.

This week, JD Vance addressed the topic in an interview with USA Today.

Vance was asked if he was prepared to assume the presidency if necessary, should something happen to the 79-year-old president.

“The president is in incredibly good health,” said Vance. “He’s got incredible energy.”

“He’s the last person making phone calls at night, and he’s the first person who wakes up and the first person making phone calls in the morning,” Vance added. The interview came the month after the 79-year-old Trump was diagnosed with a condition called chronic venous insufficiency, which the White House described as not a serious illness.

“Yes, terrible tragedies happen,” said Vance, in reference to the possibility that he might have to assume the presidency. “But I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people. And if, God forbid, there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of better on the job training than what I’ve gotten over the last 200 days.”

Also in the interview, Vance weighed in on the news of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement and what it might mean for the upcoming NFL season.

“I will say as a football fan − as a Cincinnati Bengals fan − I hope that the NFL does not put a thumb on the scale for the Kansas City Chiefs just because Travis Kelce is now getting married to maybe the most famous woman in the world,” Vance said in the interview.

“You guys can’t sort of have this, I’m worried they’re going to have a Super Bowl wedding thing this season,” Vance said. “Can’t do it. The Kansas City Chiefs have to follow the same rules as everybody else.”
