Here’s how Donald Trump’s World Cup went: Around the time of the draw earlier this year, he accepted the “FIFA Peace Prize” from the world soccer governing body, at a time when he was frequently complaining about his lack of a Nobel Peace Prize. Once the tournament began, Trump intervened to get a red card partially overturned for the U.S. star Folarin Balogun, allowing him to play the following match against Belgium. The U.S., nevertheless, lost that match and was eliminated from the tournament.
Then, on Sunday, Trump attended the World Cup Final at the New York/New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., where he was booed as he entered the stadium. Then, during the trophy presentation to the victorious Spanish team, Trump wouldn’t get out of the way.

Infantino tried to bring him to the left but Trump kept wondering and eventually followed him to the right.

“In a particularly embarrassing global moment for the president, Trump, 80, tried to join in on Spain’s hoisting of the FIFA World Cup trophy, even as his friend—the league’s president, Gianni Infantino—tried to stop him,” The Daily Beast reported.

“After presenting the trophy to one of the team’s star players, midfielder Rodri, Trump stood next to the team as they celebrated their victory over Argentina by lifting the trophy up into the air…. Just before the ceremonious moment, Infantino ran across the stage to Trump, appearing to try to escort him away to let the champions celebrate as a team.”
