White House Adviser Compares Right-Wing COVID Protesters To A “Modern-Day Rosa Parks”

This is blasphemous. They are NOT the same.

One of President Donald Trump’s closest economic advisers dared to compare armed right-wingers who are rebelling against social distancing measures to civil rights hero Rosa Parks, and social media was having none of it.

Trump once nominated Stephen Moore to the Federal Reserve, only to drop the nomination because of Moore’s controversial remarks and views, which apparently include clueless racism.

As Trump’s supporters waved Confederate and Nazi flags while showing up armed at state capitals to protest stay-at-home orders and social distancing measures, Moore voiced his support for them by comparing them to Rosa Parks.

Parks is a hero for her civil disobedience protest against Jim Crow laws in the South. She never carried a firearm to protest, but simply took a seat on a bus and refused to move in resistance to segregation.

These protesters in several states, most notably Michigan, are showing up armed and are screaming and making threats, all while Trump cheers them on.

On three different occasions this week, Moore praised the protesters and compared them to Parks.

“I call these people modern-day Rosa Parks,” he told the Washington Post. “They are protesting against injustice and a loss of liberties.”

The Huffington Post reported that Moore made similar remarks to CBS and the New York Times.

“It’s interesting to me that the right has become more the Rosa Parks of the world than the left is,” he told CBS.

“We need to be the Rosa Parks here, and protest against these government injustices,” he told the Times.

The idea that these protesters are anything like Rosa Parks is insulting to the civil rights movement, Rosa Parks, and anyone else who has ever participated in a peaceful protest without carrying a weapon to intimidate others.

Americans rightfully mocked Moore for his statements.
