White House Kicks Off Presidents Day With Dark Message To Trump’s Foes

The hunter shows his teeth

During Presidents’ Day, the White House posted a striking picture of Donald Trump with the caption:

“I was the hunted, and now I’m the hunte.”

The message immediately caught attention, standing apart from the usual photos of George Washington or Abraham Lincoln.

Trump has been clear about his approach. In a recent interview, he said, “In a way, I was the hunted, and now I’m more of the hunter.” He also reflected on his first term, saying, “My first term was one of the most successful presidencies, but literally I was hunted by these horrible people.”

He made the contrast even sharper when talking about his second term. “This is more pleasurable. There’s no question about it,” he said, framing it as a time to strike back against anyone he sees as a threat.

Trump first signaled this approach shortly after announcing his bid to return to the White House. At a Conservative Political Action Conference, he told supporters: “In 2016, I declared, I am your voice. Today I add, I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution.”

Since then, his list of targets has been long. Former FBI Director James Comey, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and his former National Security Adviser John Bolton have all been publicly called out.

The administration has gone beyond just words. Federal employees have been dismissed, security clearances revoked, and watchdogs threatened. The Department of Justice even charged former CNN host Don Lemon and eight others for protesting immigration raids at a Minnesota church.

“The events before my arrest, and what’s happened since, show that people are finally realizing what this Administration is all about,” Lemon said. “For them, the process is the punishment. Like all of you here in Minnesota, I will not be intimidated, I will not back down, and I will fight these baseless charges.”
