The White House, surprisingly, posted a photo of President Donald Trump kissing First Lady Melania Trump, accompanied by the caption “I can’t help falling in love with you,” a quote from the Elvis Presley song “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”

The timing of the post was odd. It is not the couple’s anniversary, which is in January, nor is it Valentine’s Day, or the First Lady’s birthday. But it does come after a week of bad headlines related to the president’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, thanks to a cache of emails that was released this week.

The photo was posted shortly after the First Lady appeared at a signing ceremony with the president, as he signed an executive order expanding resources for the foster care system. Melania “successfully organized” the new initiative, the White House said in a press release.

“Under Mrs. Trump’s leadership, this unprecedented presidential order unites Federal resources with innovative public- and private-sector partnerships to provide more pathways to success for young people who have experienced foster care,” the White House said in a statement.

Several people on social media noticed the timing and the optics of the post.
