In a shocking revelation, Paulette Thompson, the wife of slain UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, has confirmed that her husband had been receiving threats in the weeks leading up to his fatal shooting in Manhattan. Speaking to reporters, she described the situation as “concerning,” offering new insights into the tragic events that have captivated national attention.

“There had been some threats,” Paulette Thompson stated. “He never thought anything would come of it, but it was on his mind.”

Ongoing Investigation and Key Details

Authorities are working to uncover the source of these threats, which may offer critical clues in solving the case. According to investigators, the suspect, who remains at large, used a firearm equipped with a silencer, suggesting a level of premeditation and professionalism.

In an embedded tweet from journalist Collin Rugg, further details about the shooter’s escape were revealed:

Mrs. Thompson released a public statement:

We are shattered to hear about the senseless killing of our beloved Brian.  Brian was an incredibly loving, generous, talented man who truly lived life to the fullest and touched so many lives.  Most importantly, Brian was an incredibly loving father to our two sons and will be greatly missed.  We appreciate your well wishes and request complete privacy as our family moves through this difficult time.

The Threats

According to reporting by NBC New York, Thompson’s high-profile position as CEO of one of the nation’s largest healthcare companies made him a potential target. Investigators are reviewing correspondence from disgruntled patients and employees to determine whether the threats originated from inside the organization or externally.

“Brian was a wonderful person with a big heart and who lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by everybody. Our hearts our broken and we are completely devastated by this news. He touched so many lives. We ask everybody to respect our privacy during this time,” Paulette Thompson told KARE 11.

“We are deeply saddened and shocked at the passing of our dear friend and colleague Brian Thompson, the CEO of UnitedHealthcare,” the insurer’s parent company, UnitedHealth Group, said in a statement.

“Brian was a highly respected colleague and friend to all who worked with him,” the company said. “We are working closely with the New York Police Department and ask for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.”

Ongoing Investigation

Law enforcement officials continue to pursue leads in the case, urging anyone with information to come forward. They have not ruled out the possibility of the threats being a direct motivator for the attack.  But in my opinion – this murder was way, way, way too professional to be just an angry customer.  This was a professional hit that makes one wonder who would have done this and why.

This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more details emerge.
