Texas Republican Senator Ted Cruz had himself quite the hissy fit this week when climate protesters thoroughly disrupted his speech in Washington, D.C. that was part of a larger event hosted by conservative group, The Fund for American Studies.
Video of the ordeal was shared to X (formerly known as Twitter) by Cruz’s communications manager, Darin Miller.
In the clip, Cruz can be seen standing at the podium as protesters sit with their arms locked.
The Republican lawmaker quickly grew very irate and began to scream into the microphone: “Hold on, hold on! Which country is the biggest climate polluter on Planet Earth? You have no idea! You’re a protester and you’re utterly ignorant about what you’re protesting about! What’s the answer?!”

One of the protesters attempts to respond to him, but Cruz just continues to shout over the gentleman.
“He’s literally protesting about climate and he can’t tell you who the biggest polluter on planet Earth is! And he won’t!” the Texas senator continues to belligerently shout.
For most of the video, the responses from protesters aren’t audible, however, you can hear one person respond, shouting out, “The United States of America!”
Cruz continues to scream, claiming that one woman “has no clue — she says the United States of America. She’s protesting, and she has literally no idea — by the way, the answer is Communist China.”
And he didn’t stop there…
The senator continued to aggressively berate and verbally attack the demonstrators, asking, “Who leads the world in reduction of carbon emissions? Do you know the answer to that? I’ll give you a hint — it was the wrong answer you gave before. It’s the United States of America.”
The crowd began to applaud as Cruz continued shouting: “Do you know why?! Do you know why?!”
“The reason is, because of the thing you’re protesting against, fossil fuels — no, no,” he fumes, cutting off the protesters yet again, “You’re so ignorant, you don’t know, so if you’re going to protest, confront some facts.”
In his post of the video to social media, Miller wrote, “These radicals are not not pro-environment they’re just anti-American.”
