Updated: 8.15.24.  The USA Today has rated this claim false HERE.

Their explanation: “Comperatore’s fire department confirmed the misspelled jacket seen on the RNC stage belonged to the slain fireman. It said the error was made several years prior to the shooting and Comperatore opted not to correct it. Photos of the jacket taken before Trump’s speech also read “Compertore.”

Political Tribune wrote this article when the story first came out and the response from Comperatore’s fire department came after the story was written.

Former President Donald Trump’s entire Republican National Convention nominee acceptable speech last night was an absolute dumpster fire of epic proportions, from start to finish.

After he and his team spent the last several days claiming that the former president would be preaching love and “unity” from his proverbial pulpit, following Saturday’s assassination attempt at Donald’s Pennsylvania rally, we all saw nothing short of the same baseless and personal attacks he’s been relying on for almost a decade now.

However, there was one portion of his production last night that was particularly appalling to viewers across the country — when he engaged in some sort of bizarre PDA with a replica uniform of the deceased firefighter who lost his life in Saturday’s rally shooting.

During last night’s RNC speech, a replica of 50-year-old Corey Comperatore’s firefighter uniform, consisting of a jacket with his name and a helmet, was positioned on the stage, alongside the former president and Republican nominee.

“Tragically the shooter claimed the life of one of our fellow Americans, Corey Comperatore, unbelievable person, everybody tells me,” Trump said from the stage.

The former president then walked up to Comperatore’s uniform display and essentially groped it, circa weird American flag assault moment, pressing his lips into a kiss against the deceased firefighter’s helmet before calling on the crowd for a moment of silence in honor of the lost life.

See for yourself:

As you can imagine, people were particularly disgusted by this awkward and distasteful display, especially considering that Trump took his sweet time in even contacting Comperatore’s family, yet quickly began grifting off the tragedy as a whole:

What’s worse — they couldn’t even be bothered to spell the poor guy’s name right…
