Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), between 2021 and 2023, was under investigation concerning a sex trafficking probe, although Gaetz was informed in early 2023 that he would not be charged with any crimes.

Following the conviction of Gaetz associate  Joel Greenberg, a former Florida tax collector who plead guilty to charges of sex trafficking of a minor, identity theft, stalking, and wire fraud, Gaetz was investigated, although that probe ended without charges. Gaetz denied that he had had sex with anyone underage.

There have been reports more recently that Gaetz was the subject of a House Ethics Committee investigation, with the committee announcing in a statement in June that the Trump-allied lawmaker may have “engaged in sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, accepted improper gifts, dispensed special privileges and favors to individuals with whom he had a personal relationship, and sought to obstruct government investigations of his conduct.”

Gaetz, who has since married, has been reelected repeatedly and even helped mastermind the ouster last year of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who has vowed revenge, declaring that he’s “seen the texts” that show wrongdoing by the Florida Congressman. McCarthy backed a primary challenger to Gaetz this summer, but the incumbent prevailed.

Now, there’s another damning news report about Gaetz.

According to NOTUS, which cited court filings, Gaetz “attended a drug-fueled sex party in 2017 with the 17-year-old girl at the center of the alleged sex trafficking scandal.” The girl in question was a junior in high school at the time, and arrived to the party in her mother’s car.

The source of the documents is not the Congressional probe, or any criminal matter, but a lawsuit, filed by a lobbyist named Chris Dorworth, at whose house the party had been held.

Dorworth sued Gaetz, alleging he had been “unfairly dragged into the alleged sex trafficking scandal that has dogged Gaetz and his allies for years.” The suit has since been dropped, although the documents were filed ” in an attempt to recoup attorneys fees for a lawsuit they say should never have been brought.”

One witness in the lawsuit stated that people at the party  “[engaged] in sexual activities,” and “alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy … and marijuana” were present. The lawsuit also includes cell phone records that showed Dorworth and Gaetz had “communicated constantly” on the day of the party.

Gaetz has not addressed the report, although he did send a tweet criticizing a fellow lawmaker for a stock trade, stating “this should be illegal”:
