Marjorie Taylor Greene Praises Trump Rally Comedian For Bringing Puerto Rico’s ‘Issues To The Forefront’

Some Republicans have distanced themselves from the racist jokes at Trump's rally in New York over the weekend- but Marjorie Taylor Greene has not.

It might be the most consequential comedy set of all time. At Donald Trump’s rally at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Sunday, the opening act, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, insulted several ethnic groups, most notably likening Puerto Rico to “an island of garbage.”

It soon became clear that the rally was a political problem for the Trump campaign since Hinchcliffe had insulted multiple demographics whose votes are important in swing states. It made huge news, and soon the comedian was being denounced even by some Republican officials, like Sen. Rick Scott of Florida.

One Republican who did not join in the denouncing? Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). Greene took to X on Monday and defended Hinchcliffe, and both defended his comments and pivoted to other unrelated things, like “naked men exposing their genitals to children at Pride parade” and “325,000+ missing migrant children in America under Kamala Harris.” She also pointed to actual sanitation issues in Puerto Rico.

It was an impressive barage of lies and half-truths — Walz did not, in any sense of the term whatsoever, put “tampons in boys bathrooms,” allow with the nebulous concept of “selective outrage.” All outrage, at all times, is selective. Greene’s argument boils down to “why are you mad about that thing, and not about this other, completely unrelated thing?”

“It took a comedian to force these issues to the forefront,” Greene added. “Instead, Democrats and the complicit media are trying to cancel Tony Hinchcliffe as they continue on their communist agenda to destroy free speech instead of fixing anything.”

Once again, no Democrat appears to have called for Tony Hinchcliffe to suffer any career consequences. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who is of Puerto Rican heritage and has been vocal about Puerto Rico comments, said that she has been to Hinchcliffe’s comedy shows. The reaction has been much more about tying such open racist sentiment, at his own rally, to Donald Trump.
