The president has made some surprising decorating choices of late.

Since returning to the White House, Donald Trump has made the Oval Office his own once again, with unique decorating choices, including in the Oval Office. That’s according to a video posted Monday by CNN White House correspondent and host Kaitlan Collins.

For one thing, Collins reported, Trump has “more than tripled” the number of paintings hanging in the Oval Office, including several of former presidents.

There is also, in true Trump fashion, “a lot of gold” throughout the Oval, including numerous gold figurines and “golden medallions,” which are often visible when the president is shown meeting with other world leaders. There are also “golden figurines of eagles” on tables throughout the Oval Office. And there are golden cherubs, which Trump shipped in from Mar-a-Lago, which can be seen on top of the doors that lead into the president’s office.

Trump is “not stopping there,” according to Collins, as work is set to begin on another refresh of the Rose Garden, to make it “more of a patio style,” also more in the style of Mar-a-Lago. Melania Trump’s redecoration of the Rose Garden, during Trump’s first term, became a political lightning rod. Presidential historican Michael Beschloss ripped the redecoration.

“Evisceration of White House Rose Garden was completed a year ago this month, and here was the grim result – decades of American history made to disappear,” Bechloss said on social media in 2021.

Another decorating change in the Oval Office got some attention last month: After the memorable press conference in which Elon Musk appeared with Trump in the Oval and argued with reporters, and Musk’s young son could be seen picking his nose, the president temporarily switched out the Resolute Desk in favor of a different one.

Trump was clear, in a Truth Social post, that the switch was temporary, and that the Resolute Desk was being “lightly refinished.” It’s not clear if the desk switch had anything to do with boogers belonging to the son of the president’s most powerful adviser.
