Donald Trump may have swept back into office with a popular vote victory, but that doesn’t mean he’s popular now, just over two months into his second term. That’s according to Newsweek’s polling tracker, which has found Trump underwater in most recent polls. According to CNN’s polling average, Trump’s average approval rating in January was +7, although that no longer seems to be the case.

Fox News’ most recent poll has Trump at a 49 percent approval rating, compared to 51 percent disapproval, although Fox positioned that number as an “all-time high” for the president’s approval. The Economist/YouGov poll had it at 47/50, while the Morning Consult poll had it at 48/50. The news is even worse for the president in the Reuters/Ipsos poll, which has his approval rating at just 44, compared to 52 percent disapproval.

The last poll to show Trump in positive territory was the Echelon Insights, taken between March 10 and 13, which has him at 49 percent positive and 48 percent negative.

“Trump’s approval rating will likely fluctuate in the coming weeks depending on the outcome of key events, including critical negotiations on the Russia-Ukraine war, the growing tariff battle with countries such as Canada, and concerns about a recession,” Newsweek said in its analysis of the polling.

The same publication reported this week that Trump is only the second president — after himself, in his first term — to post a negative approval rating two months into his presidency.

“When it comes to the issues, Trump has more disapproval than approval on foreign policy, the economy and inflation—issues that some pointed to as the backbone of his popularity going into the 2024 election and key issues that the public voted for him to solve,” the analysis by Newsweek said.

“Nein nein nein… The American folks are saying ‘oy vey… ay caramba!'” CNN’s polling analyst, Harry Enten, said in an appearance on the network this week, in discovering Trump’s consistently bad approval ratings on different issues.
