The Vance family visited India for both official and cultural purposes. They visited the famous Akshardham Temple, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and also toured the Grand Amber Fort. JD Vance also gave a speech at the Rajasthan International Centre. All this sounded pretty normal — until the internet had something to say.

Some people were excited. Some were confused.

One user replied, “America first! What are you doing in India? Traitor!” Others complained about the cost of the trip. “I hope taxpayers are not funding this junket,” wrote another.

One user even asked, “Why did you kill the Pope?”—a sarcastic jab since Vance was the last person to visit the Pope before he unexpectedly passed away.

Another told Usha Vance, “There is still time to divorce and make American kids. You’re 40.”

One person criticized Usha for not wearing traditional Indian clothing. “Why doesn’t Usha wear traditional Indian attire? Who is she afraid of upsetting?”

Below are more comments:

During the visit, JD Vance shared that his sonEwan, said he wanted to live in India after they had dinner with Prime Minister Modi but changed his mind after walking around the Amber Fort in the heat.

Vance also said that a few months ago, Modi surprised their family by showing up during an international conference to wish their son, Vivek, a happy birthday and even brought him a gift, which he and his wife, Usha, found very kind.
