Too rich to care

Ivanka Trump may have caused a security scare at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez’s wedding after sharing what appeared to be her hotel room number on social media.

The wedding, a massive three-day event in Venice costing over $48 million, was already under pressure. It faced backlash from locals, protests by environmental groups, and rising global tension after U.S. airstrikes on Iran last weekend.

On Thursday, Ivanka posted photos showing herself and her husband, Jared Kushner, dressed for the pre-wedding celebration. One of the photos showed a white door with the words “Dolce Vita” and a visible room number. She captioned the post, “Ready to celebrate the love story of our friends, Lauren Sanchez and @JeffBezos.”

The post quickly reached over 370,000 views, and many users raised the alarm.

“Did you dox location by posting the photo of that door?” one user asked.

The image is now drawing criticism from people who say it may have compromised the safety of the high-profile guests. Ivanka and her family are being protected by the Secret Service, and security in Venice is already at extreme levels.

Police officers and divers were spotted in the canals ahead of the wedding. Some of Venice’s water taxis and gondolas were reserved for the event. Bezos also brought in ex-U.S. Marines to guard the area.

Many A-list stars are in attendance. Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Brady, and multiple members of the Kardashian-Jenner family were seen dressed for the rehearsal dinner on Thursday night.

The original wedding location was the famous Scuola Grande della Misericordia, but the venue was changed at the last minute. It is now scheduled to take place in the Arsenale area, possibly due to the protests and rising tensions.

Groups like Greenpeace and “Everyone Hates Elon” staged protests in St. Mark’s Square, unfurling a massive banner of Bezos’s face with the words: “If you can rent Venice for your wedding, then you can pay more tax.”

Activists said the wedding represents a deep divide between the ultra-rich and the average people. “Bezos encapsulates an economic and social model which is steering us towards collapse,” one protester said.

Ivanka, Jared, and their children arrived in Venice on Tuesday. She has been sharing vacation photos online with captions like: “Da Venezia, con amore” — which means “From Venice, with love.”

Bezos’s luxury yacht, Koru, is also nearby, parked just off the coast of Croatia.

The wedding ceremony is expected to begin on Friday, but with protests, global tension, and now a security scare, the fairytale weekend is off to a rocky start.
