Back in March, Donald Trump got angry about a portrait of himself in the Colorado State Capitol, along with all the other presidents, which he called “Purposefully Distorted.” He blamed the Democratic governor, Jared Polis, for the portrait, even though it had been up for six years by that point, and Polis had nothing to do with its placement. There had even been a separate local controversy, years earlier, when no one had wanted to donate to the portrait effort.
“Nobody likes a bad picture or painting of themselves, but the one in Colorado, in the State Capitol, put up by the Governor, along with all other Presidents, was purposefully distorted to a level that even I, perhaps, have never seen before,” Trump complained on Truth Social in March. The woman who painted it, Sarah Boardman, who had gone to great lengths to be apolitical in her work, said in an interview that the controversy had threatened her career.
After Trump complained, the portrait was removed.
Per HuffPost, the replacement portrait has now arrived in the Colorado Capitol. And social media users have a lot of thoughts about how it looks.
The Colorado State Capitol replaced Trump’s portrait…with another terrible Trump portrait. Bold choice. pic.twitter.com/IP8B0mxLNC

The self-proclaimed “Christian worship artist” Vanessa Horabuena, best-known for frantically painting that picture of Trump at the campaign rally, has made a new portrait of Trump for the Colorado legislature to replace that infamous “Plump Trump” one he hated so much: pic.twitter.com/onv6SIZzdE

It appears one person really likes the new one: Colorado Congresswoman and Trump loyalist Lauren Boebert:

Much better. A painting worthy of the man it depicts! pic.twitter.com/15xnWvKRju

And Trump itself, it appears, approves of the portrait as well, as he took time out of his busy schedule of whipping votes for his major legislative package to praise it on Truth Social Wednesday:
