As the president continued his downward spiral today, kicking off the week with a series of unhinged tweets, it’s never been more clear that Donald Trump should not be in the position of power that he is in.
At a time when it seemed as though the Democrats taking power in the House would eventually bring the end of Trump’s horrific presidency, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi delivered a bombshell today that NO ONE saw coming. Speaking about the possibility of impeaching Trump earlier today, Pelosi stated it was “just not worth it” – which stunned everyone. However, Pelosi also stated that there were many other factors that were working against him and his administration, which would make his job harder. In a statement to the Washington Post, Pelosi quoted Abraham Lincoln and said:
Public sentiment is everything. With public sentiment, nothing can fail. Without it, nothing can succeed.”
Pelosi also stated that Trump was “ethically unfit,” “intellectually unfit,” and “curiosity-wise unfit,” but said she thought impeaching him would be too divisive a move. She said:
You know, it’s not about him. It’s about what we can do for the people to lower health-care costs, bigger paychecks, cleaner government. I’m going to give you some news right now because I haven’t said this to any press person before. But since you asked, and I’ve been thinking about this: Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”

This is a statement that we certainly didn’t expect to hear from her, and people have had mixed reactions to it. For now, it seems as though Pelosi knows Trump won’t last a second term and believes there are other factors that will impact the outcome of his presidency.
