Frankly, millions of people across this nation, as well as people and leaders all around the world, have been waiting on bated breath to find out who Democratic frontrunner and former Vice President Joe Biden would choose as his running mate for the 2020 presidential election.
All we knew was that Joe had pledged to choose a woman for his vice president, and it would likely be someone of color.
Finally, Biden let us all in on his decision yesterday afternoon, and to say that we’re all thrilled would be an understatement.
America and the entire world was informed that United States Senator and former Democratic presidential candidate herself, Kamala Harris, was chosen as Biden’s running mate.
To say the very least, there were a whole lot of happy tears and reinvigorated hope in Americans yesterday — and it came at the perfect time when many of us were beginning to feel as though all hope was lost.

But believe me, the happy tears didn’t stop there.
As we all know, the candidates for Biden’s VP spot were virtually as up in the air as we were until Joe made his final choice yesterday.
On the heels of his announcement, the soon-to-be Vice President of the United States took to her Twitter account to share with us a clip of the moment that Joe informed her of his decision. And all I can say is, make sure you have your tissues ready. Because the happy tears are coming back.

Guys, I wasn’t sure my heart could ever feel this happy again after the last four years we’ve suffered through in this country.
But for once in what feels like forever, I have hope again. And social media users seemed to feel the same:
Optimism has filled my soul!

When I woke up this morning I felt elated for a change instead of deflated. You earned your spot on the ticket. You are lifting us! Every moment lived has led up to this one. Can’t wait to vote for you as VP and the former VP as president. Let’s do this!
