America as a whole took a step down when William Barr first took over as Attorney General and immediately and unabashedly started acting as the president’s personal shield. The corruption that started with his lacking memo on the Mueller report has evolved into much more insidious actions as of late — including actively trying to sway the 2020 election. Indeed, after Donald escaped indictment in the Senate following his impeachment in the House, Barr’s strategy has been less shield and more club, ready to bludgeon any part of the law at the President’s request.
As of recent, he has both launched an investigation into the Russia probe and attempted to further the narrative against mail-in ballots with a separate, blatantly partisan investigation.
“People are trying to change the rules to this, to this methodology – which, as a matter of logic, is very open to fraud and coercion – is reckless and dangerous and people are playing with fire,” the Attorney General croaked in an interview with CNN.
The “logic” he is referring to, though, is only his personal opinion, which is a mirror of the President’s warped view. But in the day and age of Trump that is all it takes to launch an investigation. Well, that and nine misplaced ballots, which is not the massive fraud that they scream exists. The investigation, though, gave some air of legitimacy to their war against voting safely in the age of coronavirus and has caused 1600 former justice department lawyers to speak out.

“We fear that Attorney General Barr intends to use the DOJ’s vast law enforcement powers to undermine our most fundamental democratic value: free and fair elections.”
They go on to say:
“Such a blatant politicization and abuse of federal law enforcement power risks immense and lasting harm to our democracy and to the integrity and reputation of the DOJ,” the letter said. “Given Attorney General Barr’s demonstrated willingness to use the Department to help President Trump politically, the media and the public should view any election-related activity by the DOJ – including any announcement or findings related to the Durham investigation – with appropriate skepticism.”
Barr has so clearly perverted and politicized the DOJ and allowed Trump to go unchecked and get away with all sorts of heinous things that are wearing away all of the checks and balances of the United States government and democracy itself.
