In an interview with Business Insider, Mary Trump predicted that her uncle’s children would not be able to run for political office because they will be entangled in legal action relating to the Trump Organization. Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, previously made a similar prediction, but because, she said, the deadly Jan 6 insurrection was “a bridge too far.” This time, though, she’s adding their potential legal problems to the list.
“Thanks in large part to their dad but also to their own anti-social tendencies, going to be defending themselves, I’m guessing in a fair number of civil and criminal cases going forward,” Mary Trump told the outlet.
“That is the only saving grace at the moment: Donald and possibly two or three of his children are going to be embroiled in lots of legal actions, starting in the future and the not too distant future,” she said.
Mary Trump went on to say that even if Trump’s children were able to overcome any legal problems, they lacked the “charisma” that was key to their father’s success in politics.

“He has a certain charisma that appeals to people’s lowest and basest instinct and gives permission to people to be their worst selves,” she told the outlet. “He can be charming. It makes sense to me that people can be taken in by him.”
With Trump’s children, though, she added: “They don’t have that.”
She’s not wrong. The former president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., is being looked at by investigators probing his father’s business dealings. Investigators with the D.A.’s office have reportedly been expanding their criminal probe into Trump’s business empire.
And now, Trump technically lost the court battle not to have to produce his tax materials, and those documents are in the hands of New York prosecutors. Trump’s adult children have worked with their father’s empire, and now it’s under scrutiny by investigators.
New York Attorney General Letitia James’s office, which is pursuing an investigation into the Trump Organization, has been nipping at the former president’s heels and interviewed Don Jr. under oath last October. While Trump Jr. has been unleashing rants about Lady Gaga’s dogs, maybe he should wipe the white dust off his nose and lawyer-up. The same goes with Ivanka, without the white powder, though.
