Former President Donald Trump is the last person that should weigh in on the COVID-19 pandemic since he bungled his response while also holding super-spreader events. Trump shamelessly lied about the spreading disease, and apparently, that’s a habit that’s hard to break for the former president since he’s lying again. Literally, no one asked that fool for advice, but he released a statement through his spokeswoman Liz Harrington since he’s banned on Twitter for inciting the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection.
“Just reported that over 20% of the people coming across our Southern Border have Coronavirus (sometimes referred to as the China Virus), many of them being immediately released into our communities—and then our “Government” tells you how to mask up, use three if possible and how to otherwise act as highly infected people pour into our Country,” he said. “Finish the wall in one month, stop paying contractors billions of dollars for NOT building the wall, and stop allowing some of the worst prisoners and criminals anywhere in the world into our Country jails of other countries are being emptied into ours. Such a thing has never happened to any nation before.”
“This is what a Rigged and Corrupt Presidential Election gets you!” the twice-impeached one-term president added.
That bizarre statement riddled with lies has already been fact-checked.

NEW LIE!
Analysis | Why we can be confident that the surge in coronavirus cases isn’t the fault of immigrants https://t.co/aweFjI3z4g

I’m starting to see a pattern here.
The US is now averaging over 100,000 new cases per day, according to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University. Until this weekend, cases had not topped 100,000/day since February. Louisiana, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama have the most new cases per capita.

USA Today reported that “COVID-19 has spread in immigration detention centers along the border. But migrants aren’t thought to be a significant source of the coronavirus variants circulating in the U.S.,” adding, “Each of the four variants started circulating in the U.S. before countries like Mexico.”
It’s politically convenient for Republicans to blame immigrants for the surge of COVID, but that doesn’t make it true. And I don’t know what he’s talking about when he claimed that the government wants us to wear three masks.
