The GOP’s biggest embarrassment, Marjorie Taylor Greene, effectively got her ass handed to her today after one Capitol Police sergeant who played a large role in protecting the government building on the day of the violent, deadly January 6th attack released photos of the injuries he sustained during the attack, following Greene daring to call herself a “victim” of the riot during today’s hearing.
Greene participated in about 3-hours of testimony today as a result of a recent challenge from a group called Free Speech for the People that is seeking to disqualify Greene from running for reelection or even having her name on Georgia’s ballot under Article 3, Section 14, of the Constitution. Free Speech for the People asserts that Greene has violated this provision of the US Constitution — which states that “no person” who has taken an oath and served in the United State Congress “shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion” — through her blatant support of the heinous events that took place on January 6th, 2021.
Greene was questioned today by lawyers for the group, as well as briefly by her own attorney James Bopp, regarding her understanding of the violent events that took place on the day that Trump and his supporters tried to overthrow the United States election and, in an effort to push back against the notion of the challenge against her, Greene had the audacity to claim that she was actually a “victim” of the deadly attack.
“Were you affected by the attack?” Bopp asked Greene.

“Yes, I was,” the GA Republican lawmaker responded. “I was in the House chamber when it happened. I had to be evacuated to safety. We were held for hours in a secret location protected by Capitol Police, military members, for hours until they cleared the Capitol.”
Ensuring she laid it on thick while she had the chance, Greene added, “Yes, I was a victim of the riot that day.”
Earlier in the hearing, Greene testified under oath that she was “very scared,” “concerned,” and “shocked” over the threats of violence during the Capitol insurrection and believed that the attack was being perpetrated by Black Lives Matter and Antifa-affiliated protesters.

Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell has been a vehemently outspoken critic of the events that took place on that fateful day, as a member of the law enforcement team that worked to protect the building and those inside it, and a true, real-life victim of the violence himself. Following Greene’s sickening testimony today, Gonell took to his Twitter to share graphic photos of the severe injuries he sustained during the infamous attack that Marjorie Taylor Greene claims to be a “victim” of.
“She is a victim of the rioters on January 6,” Gonell wrote. “Here are her injuries. Wait, those are mine,” accompanying several graphic images of his own injuries and wounds.

At least one video from January 6th, 2021 has already busted Greene for laughing and cutting up with her fellow Republican congress members as they waited out the attack in a secure location, away from the violence that injured Gonell and so many others.
Over the summer, joining several of his fellow Capitol officers, Gonell testified before the January 6th House Select Committee and spoke deeply of the trauma he’s been left with as a result of the insurrection.
He also said in his testimony that he does not believe many of the rioters have been punished severely enough and brutally criticized former Vice President Mike Pence for going on to downplay the attack, despite the fact that Donald Trump’s rabid supporters were literally looking to hang him.
“We did everything possible to prevent him from being hanged and killed in front of his daughter and his wife,” Gonell told NPR in an interview. “And now he’s telling us that that one day in January doesn’t mean anything. It’s pathetic. It’s a disgrace.”
It’s clear Greene stepped in the wrong hole this time.
