I can only imagine that Donald Trump has sat at his Mar-a-Lago resort over the last week and a half or so, thinking to himself, “It can’t possibly get any worse from there” — what with the whole FBI search warrant raid against his golf resort he now calls home and all.
But it can, Donnie. It can get worse. And it has.
Bombshell, breaking new reporting out from POLITICO this morning confirms that former White House attorney and top senior advisor to then-President Donald Trump, Eric Herschmann, has now officially been subpoenaed by a federal grand jury, just one short month after he delivered his explosive, primetime testimony before the January 6th House Select Committee, in connection to their ongoing, massive investigation into the infamous Capitol insurrection, and Donald Trump’s specific role in inciting the deadly violence on that fateful day.
POLITICO writes in their thundering report on the breaking, Trump-damning news, “A federal grand jury investigating the Jan. 6 attack has subpoenaed Trump White House lawyer Eric Herschmann for documents and testimony, according to a person familiar with the matter.”

Herschmann served as a legal defender of Donald Trump during the then-president’s first Senate impeachment trial, and is now notorious for his attendance at the “craziest meeting of the Trump presidency” — the post-2020 election meeting in the Oval Office, during when Herschmann allegedly barked at notorious conspiracy theorist and devout MAGA loyalist Patrick Byrne, “Do you even know who the fuck I am, you idiot?”
Axios reported on that very same “craziest meeting” in February of 2021, just a month after the infamous January 6th Capitol attack, describing one particularly disturbing interaction between Herschmann and “Kraken” Trump attorney Sidney Powell:
Powell, fixing on Trump, continued to elaborate on a fantastical election narrative involving Venezuela, Iran, China and others. She named a county in Georgia where she claimed she could prove that [voting machine manufacturer] Dominion had illegally flipped the vote. Herschmann interrupted to point out that Trump had actually won the Georgia county in question: ‘So your theory is that Dominion intentionally flipped the votes so we could win that county?'”
Herschmann also reportedly told “coup memo” Trump lawyer John Eastman, “Get a great f’ing criminal defense lawyer,” on January 7th, 2021, the day after the Capitol attack, leading Herschmann to become a bit notorious for his foul language, even in professional settings.
NBC News reported on Herschmann’s bombshell testimony before the J6 House Select Committee last month, quoting the Trump WH attorney as saying, “He started to ask me about something dealing with Georgia, preserving something, potentially for appeal. And I said to him, are you out of your f’ing mind? Right? I said I only want to hear two words coming out of your mouth from now on, ‘orderly transition.'”
“Now I’m going to give you the best free legal advice you’re ever getting in your life: Get a great f’ing criminal defense lawyer. You’re gonna need it.”
In his capacity as legal representation for the then-president during Trump’s first impeachment trial in the US Senate, Herschmann argued that Donald Trump should not be convicted on the charges lodged against him, as he posed no threat to the nation because his approval ratings were so high.
