According to breaking reporting from NBC News this morning, a Secret Service investigation was ignited after multiple reports were made of a gunshot heard outside the entrance to the official residence of US Vice President Kamala Harris.
At around 1:30 AM this morning, crime scene investigators were deployed to the area surrounding the U.S. Naval Observatory, in response to reports of one single gunshot heard in the area that boasts the official residence of the United States Vice President, in the northeast grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. Investigators reportedly arrived to find a stop light with the top portion shattered, assumably by the gunshot.
Secret Service spokesman Lt. Paul Mayhair released a statement saying, “No one was reported to be injured and there is currently no indication that this incident was directed towards any protectees or the Naval Observatory. Roads around the intersection are temporarily closed due to the ongoing investigation.”
Agents with the US Secret Service promptly cleared the scene and roads surrounding the area of the Naval Observatory were reopened to the public late Monday morning.
