Video footage that quickly made the rounds on social media showed disgraced former President Donald Trump telling a โGays For Trumpโ support that he โdoesnโt look gayโ while addressing the crowd from the stage during a fundraising event at his Florida Mar-a-Lago home/resort.
According to reporting from Newsweek, the event was held to raise money for Michigan House Rep. candidate John Gibbs, a Republican runner who Trump hopes to help defeat incumbent Rep. Peter Meijer after Meijer voted in favor of Donaldโs impeachment last year.
From his place on the Mar-a-Lago stage, ex-President Trump shouted into the crowd, โWhereโs Gays for Trump?โ
Someone in the audience shouted in response, โWeโre over here!โ

This quip sent Trumpโs crowd into a rowdy fit of laughter.
Once the laughter began to die down, Trump told the audience, โWe did great with the gay population, as you know.โ
After the fundraising event, the founder of Gays for Trump, Peter Boykin, spoke with Newsweek about the moment.
Boykin said that the person Trump was addressing โprobably wouldnโt โlook gayโ because itโs a stereotype that fits more with the typical โlookโ of leftist LGBT. Not saying some of us might look fabulous and โgay.'โ
The founder went on to explain that an individual from his Trump-supporting group likely wouldnโt โlook gay,โ and would instead blend in with any typical crowd unless they chose to wear a flashy, flamboyant outfit in what would likely be a joke.
โGays For Trump is a nationwide movement full of various types of gays and the gay community has a lot of diversityโthe difference is the Gays for Trump lean right,โ Boykin stated.
Recently, Trump raised eyebrows with his comments during his interview on the Full Send Podcast when he told the hosts, the NELK Boys, that the Village Peopleโs 1978 hit, โY.M.C.Aโ is often referred to as โthe gay national anthem.โ
โโY.M.C.A,โ the gay national anthem,โ Trump said in the interview, where he bragged about his new gig DJโing during Mar-a-Lago events. โDid you ever hear that? They call it the gay national anthem. But โY.M.C.A.โ gets people up, and it gets โem moving.โ
โPeople love it when I do it,โ he bragged.
