Back at the beginning of this year, Florida’s ultra Right-wing Republican Governor Ron DeSantis declared Florida to be the freest state in America during his annual state address to mark the opening of the 2022 legislative session.
In a dystopian-esque video he posted on his Twitter, DeSantis declared, “While so many around the country have consigned the people’s rights to the graveyard, Florida has stood a freedom’s vanguard.”

But as it turns out, Florida is apparently only “free” when DeSantis wants it to be free. When it comes to COVID regulations, allowing white Republican men to control a woman’s uterus, and unhinged Right-wing parents to sue their children’s teachers for discussing sexuality and gender identity, Ron is apparently all about the “American freedoms” he believes are afforded to his Red-state people by the US Constitution.

However, when it comes to any reporters who dare to pose questions to him that he doesn’t deem acceptable, those freedoms suddenly yet unsurprisingly go out the window.
Today, video footage is making its way around social media that allegedly shows DeSantis having not just one, but two Medias Touch reporters thrown out of his press briefing for asking questions he didn’t like:

Ron DeSantis claims Florida is a “Free State” but he just had journalists forcefully removed from his press conference.

Freedom of press, according to him, are just glorified traditions that are convenient to be trampled on.

As long as the people in Florida keep voting for Republicans, this will keep happening.

There’s no world in which this is acceptable, Ron. We are still a democratic nation. You wanna control the press? See if Putin has a couch available.
