As if the situation with Donald Trump and his rabid supporters wasn’t bad enough already, one leading Civil War expert has us terrified to our very cores today after revealing some of the deeply disturbing and downright troubling signs they see that’s currently pointing to the possibility of an upcoming internal, violent conflict within the United States.
University of California at San Diego political science professor, Barbara Walter, is the epitome of expertise in her field, having deeply studied the outbreaks of political violence in Syria, Iraq, Mozambique, and Northern Ireland — and recently, she told MSNBC’s Morning Joe that some of the very same factors that contributed to those heinous conflicts can be seen right here on American soil since the infamous Donald Trump made his entrance on the political scene.
“One of the things that we’ve learned is that the same factors tend to emerge no matter where these conflicts break out,” Walter explained. “For the last five years I’ve been watching many of these factors emerge here in the United States at a surprisingly fast rate, and it’s the reason why I wrote the book.”
Walter actually played a large role in the development of a model for the U.S. government that serves to predict where a civil war might break out and upon applying that information and those lessons to today’s political climate in the States, it’s enough to make your blood run cold.

“We found that two factors, and really only two factors, best predicted where civil war was likely to break out,” the expert goes on to explain during this morning’s MSNBC segment. “The first was what we called anocracy, that’s a fancy term for partial democracy, and the second factor was whether a country’s population began to break down into racial, ethnic or religious political parties.”
“Of course, if you look at what’s happened here in the United States over the last five years, our democracy has declined precipitously,” Walter went on. “After the Jan. 6 insurrection, the United States was downgraded to a partial democracy for the very first time since 1800, and, of course, we are increasingly experiencing racial politics. So the two big factors that we know are warning signs for civil wars in countries outside the United States we’re now seeing here.”
When we say that Donald Trump and his supporters are bad for this country, we don’t just mean that we disagree with his policies and politics. This is what we mean. The man and his people are quite literally on the verge of changing what this country stands for, forever.
