Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told a whopper of a lie at a Turning Point USA’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit on Sunday. McEnany pretty much worked as a paid liar during the Trump administration, but she told the audience that she “never lied” during her time as press secretary. McEnany said that being a “woman of faith” and the mother of a baby kept her honest.

“As a woman of faith, as a mother of baby Blake, as a person who meticulously prepared at some of the world’s hardest institutions, I never lied,” she said.

“I sourced my information. But that will never stop the press from calling you a liar,” she continued to say.

“Our motto was this — ‘offense only,’” she told the audience. “Because I knew what we were up against. Republicans always get the bad headlines, always get the false stories, always get the lies—if I can use that word — told by the press. There is one standard for Democrats and another for Republicans. And we must be on offense.”

There was a swift backlash on Twitter.

Receipts:

During her first press briefing, McEnany told reporters, “I will never lie to you,” then she proceeded to lie right out of the gate. PolitiFact notes that McEnany’s statements were either “mostly false” and “false.” The fact-checking site found that there were no instances where her statements were completely accurate.
