Kenosha Republican Chair Appears to Defend Kyle Rittenhouse Killings: “80 Percent Support What Kyle Did”

I WISH I could say I'm surprised.

In the wake of the Kenosha shooting, when 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse shot three people at a Black Lives Matter protest, killing two and permanently maiming another, we expected a handful of right-wing nuts to label him a hero.

However, even as bad as the state of things have gotten in this country under the reign of Donald Trump, I don’t believe anyone was quite prepared for the influx of support from so many prominent figures.

Ever since the shooting, we’ve watched the support and excuses for this kid roll in like waves from random Q crazies on the internet — despite the fact that he had absolutely no business in Kenosha, he was nowhere near old enough to even legally have the gun that he used to shoot three people, and he literally murdered human beings.

But those waves didn’t stop with the Q nuts.

Last night, during his coronavirus briefing, we heard Donald Trump himself go on the defense for this guy, claiming that he was “violently” attacked by protesters and seemed to insinuate that Rittenhouse only killed people as an act of self-defense.

Now, one Kenosha Country Republican Party Chair is following suit.

Erin Decker, a GOP Chair in Kenosha County, sat down for an interview with Fox & Friends this morning and appeared to waste no time in jumping to Rittenhouse’s defense.

To kick things off, Decker packed on the praise for Donald Trump “sending in the troops” in response to the Kenosha protests.

When the subject turned to Rittenhouse and the shooting, Decker didn’t appear to have a single bad word to say about the situation.

“I believe the same people that support Donald Trump and are happy that came into the city or sent troops into the city — and that includes Republicans and independents and Democrats — I believe they are same people that support Kyle Rittenhouse,” she stated.

She went on to defend him in the same vein Trump appeared to the night before by suggesting that Rittenhouse is innocent because “it looks like it’s self-defense.”

“Talking to people around the area, I would say about 80 percent support what Kyle did,” she continued. “And 20 percent is probably, you know, that can’t stand Donald Trump and can’t stand that he’s a conservative or Republican and they’re just going to attack anything that resembles that.”

She went on to add that she personally knows “a bunch of people” who defended their businesses against looting amid the protests by taking the law into their own hands.

Now, folks, just take a moment here and imagine that Kyle Rittenhouse was a young black man. Just imagine what the GOP talking points would have been then.

Do you see why we’re still in the streets, mad as hell?
