Appalling New WaPo Report Reveals National Archives Received Numerous Trump WH Documents Related To Jan. 6th That Were “Torn Up” And Had To Be Taped Back Together

This is INSANE.

According to a bombshell new report from The Washington Post, the National Archives has now revealed that they received several documents related to January 6th directly from the Trump White House, only to find that the paper records had been “torn up” into pieces, so badly that they had to be reassembled with tape.

Per the new report, the National Archives explained today that they handed over numerous documents to the January 6th House Select Committee that’s currently investigating the infamous, violent January 6th Capitol riot, in compliance with a subpoena from the panel that Trump himself tried to fight tooth and nail. However, to make matters that much more interesting, the report notes that among the documents handed over to the Committee by the National Archives were “paper records that had been torn up by former President Trump.”

Over Trump’s four year term in the White House, it’s been noted on several occasions that he was rather notorious for ripping up documents, apparently harboring an aversion to written records and paper trails of his various actions as president. (Gee, I wonder why.)

This childish move on Trump’s part often left his aides scrambling behind him to pick up the various pieces of the ripped and torn records and try to repair them with tape, because it’s legally required that all records are to be preserved under the Presidential Records Act, regardless of whether or not the president tried to single-handedly destroy them.

The Post goes on to report that it’s unclear which specific documents related to January 6th it was that Trump ripped up, but notes that Donald specifically sought to assert executive privilege over “presidential diaries, schedules, appointment information, handwritten notes concerning the events of Jan. 6 from White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, speeches, remarks, and more.”

So, we can make a pretty educated guess.

Of course, this news comes right on the heels of the bombshell revelation that Mike Pence’s own former Chief of Staff, Marc Short, has officially testified before the House Select Committee with regard to his knowledge about January 6th.

Is it getting hot in here, Donald?
