During Donald Trump’s first term, his daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner had official roles in the White House, with Jared taking on such divorce portfolios as pandemic relief and Middle East peace talks. Meanwhile, Trump’s other adult children and their spouses served as surrogates and informal advisers.
With Trump preparing to return to office, Jared and Ivanka no longer have any official involvement with his political operation and are not set to join his White House. According to a new report, Donald Trump, Jr., appears to have emerged as the most influential Trump relative.

Don Jr. is believed to have been a force behind his father’s choice of J.D. Vance as running mate. He also pushed for the nominations of Tulsi Gabbard as director of national intelligence and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
However, Don Jr., who recently joined the venture capital fund 1789 Capital, is not seen as taking any official role in the White House.
The president’s oldest son has also remained an active social media user and provocateur. Last week, following the news that Comcast was spinning off its cable network assets, including MSNBC and CNBC, into a separate company, Trump tweeted to Elon Musk that he had “the funniest idea ever.”

This led to a weekend of memes about Musk buying MSNBC, implicitly with Don Jr. having some type of role in running it, and the liberal-leaning network being taken in a similar direction to where Musk has taken X. Other versions have had Joe Rogan or Alex Jones hosting a show on the network, replacing the current hosts.
However, MSNBC is not actually for sale, nor is there any indication that Musk and Trump, Jr., are seriously considering making such a bid.
