Is a rift developing between President Donald Trump and his son, Donald Trump Jr.?

The two have appeared pretty close since the elder Trump entered politics in 2015, with Donald Trump Jr. regularly serving as a campaign surrogate and supporter for his dad. However, a new report says that the younger Trump has begun raising concerns about certain topics, starting with the Iran War.

The Atlantic reported Tuesday that Don Jr. is a vocal opponent of the Iran war and has made that position clear in conversations with various people, including his father.

“Trump Jr. has repeatedly voiced his opposition to the ongoing Iran war in private conversations, two people who have spoken directly with him about the conflict told us. The president’s son, these people said, opposed the war from its outset and made his opposition known to his father,” The Atlantic said.

The president’s son opposed the entrance of new foreign wars when his father was running for president, and while the president once expressed similar sentiments, those changed, even as his son’s did not.

“Don has kept his views on the subject private, as he would never publicly break with his dad on an issue like this, but I can’t imagine anyone who knows Don would be surprised by his personal views on the subject,”  a person “close to” Don Jr. told the magazine. The Atlantic presents the disagreement as part of a wider rift within the MAGA movement over policy towards Iran.

Of course, it’s also possible that Don Jr. has leaked his opposition to the war to make himself look good- something that his sister Ivanka was fond of frequently doing during the first Trump Administration, when she worked in the White House.
