Recently, an exchange between Christian Broadcasting Network White House Correspondent Caitlin Burke and Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki went viral thanks to its painfully intense awkwardness — so intense, in fact, that Burke has since spoken out, stating that she is “mortified” over the uncomfortable exchange.

In the viral clip of the press briefing exchange between Psaki and Burke, that’s rapidly closing in on a million views, Burke found herself staring down the barrel of one of Psaki’s most tried and true methods during her pressers when she turn the reporter’s question around on them with a question of her own. And even Burke herself admits she “wasn’t prepared.”

Speaking on the CBN News Daily Rundown podcast with Dan Andros, Tré Goins-Phillips, and Billy Hallowell, Burke opened up about her experience going head to head with Jen Psaki. The hosts seemingly attempted to do a little damage control on Burke’s behalf, setting the stage by claiming that Jen “dodged” the question and “did a little dance.”

But, surprisingly enough, Burke owned up to the mess, for the most part, stating, “I’m not going to lie. I was a little mortified with my first White House briefing question, and I, you know, I will admit I wasn’t prepared enough.”

Summarizing her question to Jen regarding the costs and effects of the Build Back Better bill, Burke said of Psaki, “instead of answering the question, she fired back at me, ‘Well, who says it’s not paid for?'”

“Not gonna lie, I have no idea,” she said with a laugh, going on to reveal, “I was conferring with our economic expert at CBN, and I told him that the producer wanted inflation question. That’s what he suggested, and I should have done more research to be prepared to answer that question, but I came in with a question that had been sent on to me, blind.”
