As a lifelong far-Left individual, I naturally tend to surround myself with relatively like-minded people. My friends, most of my family, and my colleagues all have pretty similar views to my own from a political standpoint. With that being said, it can sometimes be difficult for me to understand, or even really believe, that there are still living, breathing human beings out there, walking the streets and going to jobs and driving cars in the country that still proudly and openly support Donald J. Trump and everything he stands for. It’s just truly difficult for me to wrap my head around sometimes.
But there are. They are out there… In droves. They’re all around us. At our jobs, in our grocery stores, at the bank, at our children’s schools. They are out there and they are as loud and proud as they have ever been, as they continue to fall at the feet of the man who was impeached a record-breaking number of times throughout his presidential term and couldn’t even manage to secure a second one.
I was brutally reminded of this fact this evening when I turned on tonight’s MAGA-turned-Save-America Trump rally.
It was a matter of mere minutes after taking to the stage that Donald Trump did precisely what we all knew was coming. He stood up there, in front of all of those people in Mendon, IL, and openly bragged and celebrated yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling that effectively sent the United States kicking and screaming back to the 1950s — when SCOTUS officially abolished the landmark 1973 Roe V. Wade decision that solidified a woman’s right to an abortion on a federal level.

As the vast majority of the country mourns and plans and navigates their fear and anger and desperation, Donald Trump stood on stage gloating over the ruling, and his band of rabid supporters could not thank him enough, literally, as the crowd broke out into a stomach-churching chant of, “Thank you, Trump!”

It’s only a matter of time before Trump and his people set their sights on abolishing the rest of your basic human rights. Bear that in mind come November.
