JD Vance says he doesn’t “give a s***” if the Trump administration’s strike on a Venezuelan gang’s boat is called a war crime.

The September 2 strike killed 11 people in international waters. The White House says the boat was linked to Tren de Aragua, a violent gang blamed for drugs and trafficking. The people killed have not been named, and no proof of drugs has been shown.

Vance wrote on X: “Killing cartel members who poison our fellow citizens is the highest and best use of our military.”

Brian Krassenstein, a writer and social media personality, answered: “Killing the citizens of another nation who are civilians without any due process is called a war crime.” Vance replied: “I don’t give a s*** what you call it.”

Soon after, Krassenstein wrote on X that JD Vance should resign immediately and asked, “Who agrees?” Many people seemed to agree that Vance should step down.

Senator Rand Paul also spoke out. “JD ‘I don’t give a s—’ Vance says killing people he accuses of a crime is the ‘highest and best use of the military.’ Did he ever read To Kill a Mockingbird? Did he ever wonder what might happen if the accused were immediately executed without trial or representation??”

Senator Mark Kelly, a Navy veteran, told Axios that U.S. troops should not be sent to carry out missions “outside of legal boundaries.”

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the mission was right. He said officials were sure the boat carried members of Tren de Aragua who wanted to “poison” the U.S. with drugs. Trump wrote on Truth Social that those killed were “Tren de Aragua Narcoterrorists” working under Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro.

Maduro condemned the attack and asked Trump to respect Venezuela. The strike has made tensions between the two countries worse.

The White House said the strike was “fully consistent” with armed conflict law and carried out to protect “vital U.S. national interests.” Hegseth said on Fox & Friends: “Anyone else trafficking in those waters who we know is a designated narco terrorist will face the same fate.”
